Tesla’s Full Self-Driving System Under Investigation After Fatal Crash, October 18, 2024.

The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has launched a probe into Tesla’s “Full Self-Driving” system following crashes in low-visibility conditions, one of which resulted in a pedestrian’s death. The investigation involves crashes where Teslas encountered sun glare, fog, or airborne dust, affecting the vehicle’s ability to detect hazards. Tesla reported four such incidents, including one in Arizona that killed a pedestrian. The probe will evaluate if Tesla’s system can properly respond to reduced visibility. This investigation affects approximately 2.4 million Tesla vehicles.
